Zero Emission Hybrid District Heating
ZEO is an innovative Hybrid District Heating solution designed to provide emission-free Hot Water and Heating directly to your house. Infrastructure for ZEO is installed as the initial development is built maximising topological control while minimising disruption.
Central to the design, the unique ZEO Hybrid Heating Plant combines ground and air source heat pumps to produce hot water for hundreds of houses. The plant can be integrated seamlessly into the landscape of an estate, making use of communal areas such as parks and playgrounds.
A combination of vertical boreholes and horizontal trenches allow flexible tailoring to each development’s unique geography, while intelligent plant control maximises the efficiency and comfort of the system.
Variable flow control facilitates low supply and return heat network temperatures reducing heat loss and boosting overall system efficiencies while integrated hot water tanks and thermal energy storage ensures uninterrupted heating on-demand. With ZEO, expansion is easy as new units can be implemented and existing ground loops expanded to boost heating capacity as needed.
Unlike other systems, the ZEO is able to maintain consistently high seasonal efficiency no matter the climate by balancing demand between air and ground source heating.
As Summers get hotter, ZEO offers a solution to those unbearable days by directly cooling houses using the cold ground as a heat sink.
